An Adventure with Words

Writing; a story, but also an adventure. An adventure with words, yes, but an adventure nonetheless. This week in Room 9, we have been writing narratives. We began with using a story arc plan. In this plan there is a conflict, three rising actions, a  falling action, and finally the resolution, which ties everything together.

After we had planned out how our narrative would go, we wrote our draft in our Literacy book. This was probably the longest stage of narrative writing, and many are still working on finishing their draft.

Then, we went through the editing stage, where we had to read through our story, sentence by sentence, correcting any mistakes and making improvements to our writing. It was a long stage, but well worth it.

Finally, we published our stories on computers, or by hand, this took quite a while, but produced a result that everyone was proud of.

Lockdown Poetry

LOCKDOWN 1
Lockdown is as annoying as Barbie
Lockdown is as boring as watching paint dry
Lockdown is as boring as staring at a wall
Lockdown is as relaxed as 100 sloths
Lockdown is boring like doing 100 maths tests
Lockdown is so annoying, it’s just like my sister

Lockdown 2
Lockdown is an emotional rollercoaster
Lockdown is a Ferris wheel
Lockdown is as annoying as my brother
Lockdown is like snake poison, killing slowly but surely
Lockdown is worse than Donald Trump and a dead baby
Lockdown is a real big
pig
Lockdown is the government keeping everyone hostage
Lockdown is as hard as a brick

Lockdown 3

Lockdown is a shipwreck in a coral reef
Lockdown is the death of socialising.
Lockdown is a spiky thorn on a rose
Lockdown is a place where we are jammed inside almost like a jail
Lockdown is a person being tortured
Lockdown is like being a little goldfish stuck in an aquarium
Lockdown is the place where we feel like we are being trapped
Lockdown is a spider in an arachnophobic’s home
Lockdown is a nightmare you can't wake up from

Arty Types

In Room 9 we have been creating portraits. We started with taking a selfie of ourselves in any sort of way and then sending it to Mr Smith. After we started a 'Hobby Head' (side portrait, full of all the things we love doing inside the head) and next we are drawing a self-portrait or portrait of a friend.

Fun Times

Last week, we ran our school assembly. It was loads of fun.

On Monday our class took part in the Oakura School Beach Clean-Up. We are trying to keep our beach clean by picking up all the rubbish left along it. We walked all the way to Ahu Ahu Road collecting rubbish. We were surprised by how much rubbish got picked up. We collected many beer bottles, also a lot of them were smashed which is a safety hazard. Our message is to keep our beaches clean.
